Kindred: The Embraced
Kindred: The Embraced is an American television series created by John Leekley Productions and Spelling Television. The series, loosely inspired on the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade, premiered on Fox on April2,1996, and lasted eight episodes before being canceled on May9, 1996. During his investigation of accused mobster Julian Luna, San Francisco Police Detective Frank Kohanek discovers his city is home to countless vampires. Julian is the "prince" of the city, ruling over five clans of vampires known as "The Kindred." The vampires exist by "masquerading" as humans, and Julian zealously enforces the regulations that govern them to ensure their secrecy. Julian and Frank create an uneasy alliance as they work together to prevent a vampire war, and Julian fights with his romantic affections for human reporter Caitlin Byrne. The series' eight episodes were published on VHS and DVD.
