Robot Wars
Robot Wars was a British game show modelled onto a US-based competition of the same name. It had been broadcast on BBC 2 from 1998 with its final series broadcast at 2003 and 2004 on Channel 5. Additional show were filmed for certain industries of the global market, including two series of Robot Wars Extreme Warriors with U.S. competitors for the TNN network, also two of Dutch Robot Wars for distribution at the Netherlands. The fourth series of the UK Robot Wars was brought to the USA about TNN also hosted by Joanie Laurer. In 2003, the roboteers formed The Fighting Robot Association carry on engaging in contests for new audiences.
The series included teams of professional and amateur roboteers who left their robots to fight each other in both friendly and tournament games. As well as fighting eachother, they had in order to avoid that the"House Robots", that were not bound by exactly the identical weapon or weight constraints because of the contestants. Robot Wars was commercially successful in its own merchandising, also had summit crowds of 4 million.
