Max and the Junkmen
Max is a Paris investigator who is distant, self-sufficient, and frustrated by robber groups he can't apprehend. To re-establish his status and save face, he arranges for a group of petty thieves (headed by an old acquaintance) to heist a bank. A reluctant captain gives Max with intelligence, and Max begins spending evenings with Lilly, a prostitute who is the girlfriend of the group's leader. He pretends as a wealthy banker with plenty of cash and pushes Lilly to consider her future. He alludes to a payroll run through his bank. The plot works, the small criminals believe they're ready for a huge score, and the cops are ready. What could possibly go wrong with Max's frigid plan? Who is caught?
